Many of the processes we need to replace foreign oil with hydrogen are not yet invented. Think about the enormous amount of gasoline and diesel fuel that the USA converts to energy everyday. Scientists know that there must be a process to create the new hydrogen energy that is robust and powerful. The sun's energy , driven by its nuclear furnace , created the oil under the foreign deserts. Windpower , solar power , and hydropower can create enough electricity to liberate large quantities of hydrogen. But to get the electricity ultimately needed to replace foreign oil , we will need nuclear and coal powered electricity generation. There's no free lunch. Hydrogen is the perfect fuel. But we need powerful energy sources to liberate the hydrogen from its moleculer bond in water H20. We need scientists to create and improve the hydrogen production , distribution , and combustion processes of the future.
